The $25K challenge grant that Hospice Maui received from Lloyd and Barbara Amundson has inspired both new and longtime supporters of Hospice Maui to invest in its five-bedroom Hospice Hale--a hospice home for those on Maui nearing the end of their lives. Just four months ago, the Amundsons challenged the community by offering to match all new gifts from individual donors made before December, up to $25,000. Thanks to the generous support of the Maui community, their challenge has been fully met well before the challenge end date and has resulted in a total donation of $50,000 toward this important project.
The Hospice Hale is slated to begin construction in January, and will be located at Hospice Maui's current site in Wailuku at the top of Mahalani Street near Maui Memorial Medical Center.
"We are humbled by the continued and generous support of the Maui community, and we extend our deepest gratitude to all who share in our vision," said Dr. Greg LaGoy, CEO of Hospice Maui.
Hospice Maui Office Manager Carrie Anne Campos, the granddaughter of a Hospice patient, celebrates the generosity of the Maui community.
