Makule softball (age 40 and over) was back at the Community Park after taking a Flossie break with three games on Monday, Aug. 5.
Getting the night started, Wasabi scored five runs in the first inning on just one hit (and five walks), and went on to defeat Blue Collar 13-3. No player on either team had more than one hit. Jeff Simon had two RBIs for Wasabi.
Da Bruddas used a six-run second inning to roll past En Fuego 15-5. Steve Rappenecker went three-for-three, with three RBIs, and also walked twice and scored four runs to lead Da Bruddas.

Jus Enuff wrapped up the night's play with a 10-0 shutout of Brudda Kikas. Lance Ribucan paced Jus Enuff, going two-for-two, with two RBIs.
There are just two more Mondays left in the season, followed by a single-elimination playoff on Saturday, Aug. 24.
Men's Open League Softball to begin
In more softball news, we (South Maui Parks Department) are now accepting rosters for the upcoming Men's Open League Softball. Tentatively scheduled to begin Sept. 9, games this year will be played on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday nights at South Maui Community Park. Completed team rosters must be turned in to the parks department office to confirm entry. The deadline to get your team in is Friday, Aug. 30.
Girls' Softball League looking for players
Also, still looking for girls age 8-16 interested in playing softball.
Youth Sand Volleyball coaches needed
Lastly, we are looking for individuals to help start/coach a Youth Sand Volleyball program in South Maui.
We are always looking for volunteers to help officiate games. Just bring your shoes, and a willingness to help out--we'll supply the whistles.
