The Maui Arts & Cultural Center's (MACC's) Starry Night Cinema has become a much-anticipated event on the Maui fun scene. The family movie audience will be thrilled to know that another free outdoor movie event is planned for next weekend on Saturday, Sept. 7.

The feature film will be Disney's "Wreck-It Ralph," and we're all in for some laughs with this animated adventure.

Disney’s “Wreck-It Ralph” is The MACC’s free, outdoor movie event on Saturday, Sept. 7.

"Wreck-It Ralph" (John C. Reilly) is tired of being overshadowed by Fix-It Felix (Jack McBrayer), the "good guy" star of their game, who always gets to save the day. But after decades of doing the same thing and seeing all the glory go to Felix, Ralph decides he's tired of playing the role of a bad guy. He takes matters into his own massive hands and sets off on a game-hopping journey across the arcade--through every generation of video games--to prove he's got what it takes to be a hero. On his quest, he meets the tough-as-nails Sergeant Calhoun (Jane Lynch) from the first-person action game, "Hero's Duty." But it's the feisty misfit, Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman), from the candy-coated cart racing game, "Sugar Rush," whose world is threatened when Ralph accidentally unleashes a deadly enemy that threatens the entire arcade. Will Ralph realize his dream and save the day before it's too late?

"Wreck-It Ralph" starts at 7:30 p.m., but the gates will open at 6 p.m. for lots of pre-film fun, including door prizes, art activities for the keiki and live music.

Starry Night Cinema is an outdoor movie experience, so bring blankets, mats or low-back (only) beach chairs to relax and watch it all on "The Big Screen" erected in Yokouchi Pavilion.

No coolers or outside food or beverages are allowed in the amphitheater, but there will be affordable family-friendly options for dinner, snacks and beverages offered by various food vendors.

Starry Night Cinema is presented with support from the County of Maui, H-Hawai'i Media, and Maui Film Festival.
