Imua Family Services and its team of specialized children's therapists will host a free drop-in fair at Queen Ka'ahumanu Center in Kahului on Saturday, Sept. 7.
Families are invited to meet and speak with Imua's therapists regarding their children's strengths and any areas of concern, including growth, behavior and development.
If parents are unsure of developmental milestones their children should be reaching, this is the perfect opportunity to find out if your child is on track. If you have questions regarding your child's development, Imua's staff will provide answers to empower your child and your family.
Imua Family Services Executive Director Dean Wong works with “Kai,” who is a little slow to speak.
Around Queen Ka'ahumanu Center's center stage, Imua will set up individual talk story tables, where parents can have private one-on-one conversation with Imua's highly trained staff.
On stage, Auntie Ro (Special Instruction Teacher Rochelle Dunning) and Uncle Deano (Imua Executive Director Dean Wong) will entertain with puppets and sing-a-longs. Special appearances will include Maui Taiko on stage at 11:30 a.m. and a special guest appearance by Hello Kitty in the morning and in the afternoon.
Speech Language Pathologist Ashley Jung will be available to communicate in American Sign Language. She'll provide information to families who need to learn to communicate via sign language and participate in ongoing class support.
Other Imua therapists on-hand to answer questions will include occupational therapists, speech-language pathologists, physical therapists, special instruction teachers and educators, as well as Imua's Care Coordination services staff.
The event will focus on milestones and development through age 6.
Each child/family receiving a developmental screening from Imua's team will receive a coupon for a free train ride on the Cubby Caboose that day!
