Interior and lighting designer Jane Ornellas Marshall of the Wailuku-based interior design and architecture firm Marshall Design Studio LLC took home top honors from American Society of Interior Designers during a recent award ceremony in Honolulu.
Marshall received a first place "2013 Design Excellence Award" for her renovation of "The Baxter Residence," a condominium renovation located at The Palms at Wailea. She also received the second place award for her restoration of the "Hawaiian Bungalow," a 1940's era home in the Old Sand Hills Neighborhood of Wailuku.
This is the second award Marshall has received for her "Hawaiian Bungalow" restoration. She also received a 2013 Preservation Honor Award from the Historic Hawai'i Foundation, the state's highest recognition of projects, organizations, publications or individuals active in preservation, rehabilitation, restoration, or interpretation of the state's archaeological, architectural and cultural sites.

"I recently moved back home to Maui after being in the Bay Area and New York City for many years," said Ornellas. "Seeing my work being recognized in Hawai'i in such an incredible way is the best homecoming I could have imagined. It has been a very good summer, to say the least."
