It Was a Wonderful Summer of Great Television!

Spoiler alert! Read no further if you are not up to date on this year’s lineup of shows.

Last season's episodes of "The Newsroom" didn't quite work for me. The Sorkin machine-gun dialogue was great, as usual, but I had trouble with the lead characters' silly soap opera love angles. I don't know whether the producers figured that out or not, but this season, it all came together nicely. "The Newsroom" is my favorite of all the wonderful series we enjoyed in 2013 (and there were some great ones).

FX finally came up with a terrific show. Lots of people have said the Danish-Swedish series "Bron" is even better, but I only know the American version, "The Bridge." Diane Kruger's cop with Asperger's syndrome was brilliant. I can't wait for 2014.

I loved the ending of "Breaking Bad" and I think I share that feeling with millions of other BB fans. I know I'm not alone in this, because everyone is still raving about it, and there is certainly less controversy with this show than with "Dexter," which, in my opinion, could not have been better! Loved it and I'll explain why.

Yvonne Strahovski plays Hannah in Showtime’s “Dexter.”

I was amazed at how Walter--in some kind of incredible "deus ex machina" way--somehow figured out how to atone (as much as could be atoned for) and then destroyed all the bad guys in one hour. And he actually did it with a semblance of script credibility. Good job. Great finale!

I loved the controversial ending of "Dexter." It left me suspended in the same way the finale of "The Sopranos" did years ago. I was sad to see Debby go, but I loved Hannah McKay. It may be purely a guy "lust" thing, but I loved her character, the actress who plays her (Yvonne Strahovski) and the way it ended. In my mind, Hannah, will bring up the kid in the best way possible. She is a survivor and she will protect Harrison and find a good home for him. Plus, he'll grow up multilingual!

I think they smoke a lot in Argentina, but maybe Harrison will be okay with that.
