Police report ‘smooth’ event on Front Street

November 7, 2013
Maui Weekly

The Maui News - Fewer than a dozen people were arrested during Thursday night's Halloween festivities on Front Street in Lahaina, leading police to call the night a "smooth and successful event."

"We believe that this year's festivities were a success due to all of the agencies that participated in setting up a safe and organized family event," said Lt. Derrick Lopez of the Lahaina Patrol District. "Special recognition should go out to the men and women of the Police Department, Fire Department, Public Works and other participating agencies that assisted in this year's Halloween."

Of the estimated 28,000 people that participated in the festivities, nine adults and two juveniles were arrested on charges that included first-degree assault against a police officer, open lewdness, possessing drug paraphernalia and prohibitions involving minors.
