Hard Rock Cafe Maui is proud to have local athlete, Jen Tom, as the winner of Hard Rock's recent 10k run. On Sept. 21, Hard Rock Cafe Maui sponsored the Hard Rock 10k as part of the Maui Marathon Weekend event, where more than 700 runners participated.
Jen Tom received first place, outpacing a field of more than 200 runners, with a time of 40:50 (6:35 pace). Jen has been a competitive runner since high school and she will also be competing in Hard Rock Cafe Hollywood Boulevard's upcoming 5k run in Los Angeles on Nov. 2.
Last year, Jen decided to focus all of her time on a competitive running career. Towards the middle of this year, Jen started working with coach Matt Holton. With her leap into competitive running, she was the 10th female and the first woman from Maui in Hawai'i's largest road race, the Great Aloha Run, with over 20,000 runners. This success earned her an invitation to participate as a member of Team Hawai'i for the Hapalua Half Marathon Chase. After the Chase, Jen won second place in the three-mile 5th Annual St. Patrick's Day Run 'til You're Green race, averaging 6:15 per mile.
Running has always been a large part of Jen Tom’s life.
