Maui Film Festival again lights up the silver screen at the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's (The MACC) Castle Theater with "FirstLight: Academy Screenings on Maui" for 10-plus days through the holidays!
FirstLight's 15th Annual Celebration of Cinema will feature both special screenings and premieres. Several of the titles are Maui and/or Hawai'i premieres presented in advance of or coincident with their theatrical premieres in New York or Los Angeles.
The schedule for FirstLight 2013 includes films starring Kate Winslet, Josh Brolin, Julia Roberts, Meryl Streep, Joaquin Phoenix, Scarlett Johansson, Amy Adams and other stellar A-list luminaries. Plus, for those who truly appreciate the opportunity to see films from around the world in a theater setting, there will be screenings of official submissions in the Best Foreign Language Film category of the 86th Academy Awards from France, Italy, Belgium and Chile.
Spread out over the holiday season break, screenings will take place on Dec. 18, 19, 21, 22, 27, 28, 29 and Jan. 2, 3, 4 and 5.
