Senior & Coed Softball League Schedule Extends
Both our Senior Softball (50 and over) and Coed Softball Leagues were rained out on the last Sunday of 2013. Those games will be played after the regular schedule ends, thus extending the seasons into February.
En Fuego got the weekend Senior Softball League action started with a 12-0 win over Maui 5-0 Blue on Sunday, Jan. 5. Owen Ching led the way, going three-for-three and knocking in three runs.

County of Maui Recreational Assistant
Jus E Nuff remained unbeaten and atop the standings after their 13-5 win over Maui 5-0 Gray. Kevin Fanara was Jus E Nuff's big bat, going three-for-four with two RBIs.
Our Coed Softball League followed with four more games beginning with a Honey Badgers 17-11 win over Red Line. Alex Roman III went four-for-four, with three RBIs for the Honey Badgers. Chris Dernovich's two-for-three, three-RBI night was tops for Red Line.
Sanoe Kalalau was four-for-four with four RBIs leading the Green Trekkers past McEntire Realty 15-10. Katie Guerrieri was three-for-three, with one RBI for McEntire.
Boom got by GSSM 5-1 with Krystal Cabating going two-for-three, with two RBIs.
The Yard Sharks stayed unbeaten after a tight 11-10 win over Pitch Slap. Kurt Peterson's three hits and two RBIs led the league leading Yard Sharks. Alex Alstrom's three-for-four, two-RBI night topped Pitch Slap.
SMYBL Season Coming Up
South Maui Youth Basketball League (SMYBL) action gets underway on Jan. 15. at Kamali'i Elementary School for 5- and 6-, and 7- and 8-year-old students.
Games will begin at the end of the month at Kalama Park for 9- and 10-, and 11- and 12-year-old students.
We continue to invite anyone interested in volunteering as referee or scorekeeper to give us a call, leave a message on our South Maui Parks Facebook page, or just come to the courts.
One Love Skate
A big mahalo to Sam Peralta of One Love Skate for leading a small, but eager and enthusiastic group of kids at our Christmas Skate Jam on Dec. 21. Everybody went home with a prize. And another big mahalo goes out to Andrew Beerer of Aloha Boards. The kids are always excited to win one of his skateboards!
