As usual, following the seniors, our Coed Softball League took over the field. Game one saw GSSM outslug Pitch Slap 18-13. Next, Boom defeated McEntire Realty 15-3.

The league leading Yard Sharks edged the Honey Badgers 17-13 to remain undefeated.

The last game of the night was tied 7-7, when it was called due to a serious injury to a player.

Best wishes for a speedy recovery go out to Andrea "Smitty" Partney, who was struck in the face by a hit ball. Happy to report via several Facebook posts, that after an 18-hour surgery on O'ahu, she is home and doing well.

Youth Hoops Returns

Wednesday, Jan. 15 was to be opening day for the South Maui Youth Basketball League season, but for the first time in the league's 20 years, games had to be postponed due to rain.

The season finally got started on Tuesday, Jan. 21, with our Fryer's Division (7-8-year-olds). Our Junior Midgets (9-10-year-olds) Boys, and this year, a Girl's Division, as well as a Midgets Division (11-12-year-olds) all get underway over the next couple weeks.

Soon there will be kid's playing basketball at either Kamali'i School or Kalama Park five afternoons a week (see "South Maui Youth Basketball League Schedule."

We are always looking for volunteers to help officiate games. Just bring your shoes, and a willingness to help out--we'll supply the whistles. For information on any of our programs, call the South Maui Parks office at 879-4533, or check out our South Maui Parks Facebook page.
