Jeff Peterson & Nathan Aweau By Moonlight

Another beautiful evening of Hawaiian music in the Maui Arts & Culturals Center's (The MACC) signature Moonlight Series will be presented by Nathan Aweau and Jeff Peterson on Saturday evening, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Yokouchi Pavilion & Courtyard.

Playing and recording under the name of MAMO, these multi-talented musicians celebrate their heritage through music with a repertoire that spans a wide range, reaching as far back as the Hawaiian monarchy and forward to new compositions and cutting-edge arrangements in contemporary Hawaiian music.

Jeff Peterson & Nathan Aweau will perform on Saturday evening, March 1, at 7:30 p.m. in Yokouchi Pavilion & Courtyard.

Both are accomplished solo artists. Nathan has 14 Na Hoku Hanohano Awards, including Island Music Album of the Year and Song of the Year. Jeff is a two-time Grammy winner, has four Na Hoku Hanohano Awards of his own, and his music was featured in the hit film "The Descendants." In the hands of these artists, beloved hula standards are given fresh new interpretations, and the influences of jazz and contemporary music blend with the Hawaiian sounds of slack key, 'ukulele, percussion instruments and falsetto.

Enjoy a harmonious evening featuring Aweau's acclaimed vocals and Peterson's renowned guitar stylings.

Tickets are $30, and $45 and $65 for premium table seating. Also a limited number of $65 VIP lanai tickets are available overlooking the stage and courtyard.

Martin Beaver, violin with Kevin FitzGerald, piano

The classical genre in "The MACC presents 2013-14 Season of Performances" will be represented next week by the duo of Martin Beaver on violin and Kevin FitzGerald on piano, performing Thursday, March 6, in the Castle Theater at 7:30 p.m.

From Canada, Beaver has been first violinist with the venerable Tokyo String Quartet for the past decade. A prominent chamber musician, he was a founding member of the Toronto String Quartet and Triskelion ensemble. He's been a top prize-winner at international violin competitions, has appeared with chamber groups in North America and Europe, and performed as soloist with symphonies in San Francisco, Boston, Montreal, Toronto, Belgium and Portugal.

This eminent violinist will be appear with critically acclaimed pianist Kevin FitzGerald, whose performances have garnered international praise for dynamic and distinguished interpretations.

Tickets for this performance are $12, $30, $40 and half-price for kids 12 and under.
