Maui Hotel & Lodging Association's (MHLA) Executive Director Lisa Paulson was recently nominated to the Advisory Board Leadership Council (ABLC) for the National Academy Foundation (NAF) based in New York.
The ABLC is a group of NAF Advisory Board members from around the country who have demonstrated a high level of involvement with, passion for and interest in participating on their local Academy Advisory Board, and have embodied the highest standards and exemplars for advisory board members.
As a part of her role as executive director, Paulson supports workforce development for Maui County by serving as the co-chair to the Maui County Academy of Hospitality and Tourism (AOHT), which prepares students for post-secondary education and careers.

The scademy provides public high school students with the requisite knowledge and skills for a successful career in one of the world's largest service industries, through a curriculum that provides an in-depth look at all aspects of tourism and hospitality, including coursework in business, geography, hospitality, and economics.
The AOHT operates as a small learning community and is located in more than 110 high schools nationwide. On Maui, the three participating high schools are Baldwin, Lahainaluna and Maui, with over 200 students enrolled in the AOHT program.
"I am honored to have been selected to this position with a nationally recognized organization," said Paulson. "It will give me the opportunity to work with leaders around the country in developing and implementing work-based learning curriculum for our students."
Paulson will be a featured speaker at the foundation's national conference in Washington, D.C. this summer.
