The line was long to have voter signatures notarized for SHAKA Movement's GMO moratorium ballot initiative. The notary process was part of the march and rally on Sunday, March 30. The event began at noon in the War Memorial Stadium parking lot, where participants gathered and walked to Canoe Hale beach in Kahului for food, music and speeches. Event organizers said that the goal of 8,500 signatures had been reached and that they would be presented to the County Clerk's Office on Monday, April 7. The voter signature drive continues in the event that some of the signatures are not valid. An estimated 2,500 people participated in the march, of those of those an estimated 500 stayed for the rally.
