Visitor Industry Charity Walk Returns

Time to put on your walking “slippahs.”

May 1, 2014
Maui Weekly

May is the time of year to put on your walking "slippahs" for another fun day with family, friends and coworkers at the 36th Annual Visitor Industry Charity Walk, sponsored by the Hawai'i Lodging & Tourism Association (HLTA).

The public is invited to take part in a unique experience in which participants can eat their way through ono grinds while making a difference in Hawai'i's communities.

On Maui, the "Put Your Best Slippah Forward" event will take place on May 10 (Hawai'i Island on May 10; Molokai and Lana'i on May 3; Kaua'i and O'ahu on May 17).

Proceeds benefit hundreds of local charities, with the monies raised staying on each island. Last year, over 14,000 walkers statewide raised a record-breaking $1.67 million.

Event participation is open to all, not just lodging industry employees.

Maui, Lana'i and Molokai participants should contact Lisa Paulson or Laura Echiverri of the Maui Hotel & Lodging Association at (808) 244-8625.

For more information and walker applications, visit and or call the Charity Walk representative on your island.
