Lupita Nyong'o, Emma Roberts and Evan Rachel Wood will be honorees at the 2014 Maui Film Festival, said Barry Rivers, director of the event.
The Maui Film Festival at Wailea will be held June 4 to 8 at the Wailea Resort.
All awards will be presented at the new Seaside Cinema Music Cafe and Sunset Lounge located at the Grand Wailea.
Lupita Nyong’o will receive the 2014 Maui Film Festival’s Rainmaker Award.
"For an event that's often been referred to as a 'jewel box' film festival, this year's intelligent, talented and beautiful--both inside and out--list of luminaries seamlessly fit into the tapestry of 'diamonds, rubies and pearls' we have honored since our inception in 2000," said Rivers. "To say the least, we're thrilled beyond words."
Lupita Nyong'o will receive the 2014 Maui Film Festival's Rainmaker Award, which honors a film artist whose eclectic choices and charismatic performances encourage us all to expand our definition of what it means to be human. Nyong'o made her feature debut in Steve McQueen's Academy Award winning film, "12 Years a Slave," alongside Chiwetel Ejiofor, Michael Fassbender and Brad Pitt. For her portrayal as Patsey, Nyong'o received the Academy Award for "Best Supporting Actress." She won multiple accolades, including the Screen Actors Guild Award, the Critics' Choice Award, the Independent Spirit Award and NAACP Award. She was last seen in the action thriller, "Non-Stop," opposite Liam Neeson, Michelle Dockery and Julianne Moore.
Emma Roberts will receive the 2014 Maui Film Festival's Shining Star Award, which honors a film artist who dares to dream big dreams and delivers brilliantly charismatic and revelatory performances every time that opportunity knocks. Roberts can currently be seen in Gia Coppola's directorial debut, "Palo Alto, alongside James Franco and Jack Kilmer. In February 2014, Roberts starred in "Adult World," directed by Scott Coffey.
In August 2013, Roberts starred in the summer hit comedy, "We're the Millers," opposite Jennifer Aniston and Jason Sudeikis from director Rawson Marshall Thurber. Roberts also recently had a memorable supporting role in the 2012 Sundance Premiere "Celeste And Jesse Forever."
Evan Rachel Wood will receive the 2014 Maui Film Festival's Nova Award, which honors a film artist for astonishingly original and seamless performances, consistently infusing each character with insight, humanity and wisdom. Wood gained critical acclaim, a Golden Globe and Emmy nomination for "Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Miniseries or Movie" for her portrayal of Veda Pierce in the HBO miniseries "Mildred Pierce." She also earned acclaim for her powerful performance as Stephanie, Mickey Rourke's estranged daughter, in Darren Aronofsky's 2008 film, "The Wrestler."
