Ebb & Flow Arts to Present 15th Season of Exceptional Performances

In celebration of its 15th season, Ebb & Flow Arts (E&FA) will present three free concerts this spring and summer on Maui--two solo piano recitals and Vox n Plux.

The first concert will feature a piano recital by Ebb & Flow Arts Executive Director and Founder Robert Pollock on Saturday, May 31, at 7:30 p.m., at Makawao Union Church (1445 Baldwin Ave. above Pa'ia). Pre-concert discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m.

The program will include works inspired by Ebb & Flow Arts' explorations over the years, including compositions by Pollock, Erik Satie, Olivier Messiaen, Halim El-Dabh, Dina Koston (premiere), Alexander Scriabin, George Walker, Claude Debussy and Thomas de Hartmann.

Adam Tendler will perform a piano recital on Friday, July 11, at 7:30 p.m. at Makawao Union Church for the season's second concert. This is the exact day and venue where E&FA presented its first concert event 15 years ago!

Tendler will perform works by Edward T. Cone, Robert Palmer and Aaron Copland ("Fantasy").

Pre-concert discussion will begin at 6:30 p.m.

Concert three on Sunday, Aug. 10, will showcase New York City-based Vox n Plux beginning at 5 p.m. at the A'ali'ikuhonua Creative Arts Center at Seabury Hall (480 Olinda Road) above Makawao.

Elizabeth Farnum, soprano; William Anderson, mandolin/guitar; and Oren Fader, guitars; will perform an exciting program of very recently commissioned work. The event will also include guest Composer Stephen Blumberg, co-director of the annual Festival of New American Music at California State University in Sacramento.

The program will include works by Pollock, Charles Ives, William Anderson, Laurie San Martin, Harold Meltzer, Richard Festinger and others.
