Sheriff: Suspect in disappearance likely got muddy

SEATTLE (AP) — Authorities say the person who might be responsible for the disappearance of a 6-year-old Washington girl would have been "covered in mud."

A Kitsap County sheriff's spokesman said Friday the wooded area where they found a body believed to be that of Jenise (juh-NEES') Wright was covered with brush and likely was muddy. Deputy Scott Wilson says that person would have had muddy pants, shoes, shirt or boots.

Meanwhile, Wilson says authorities are collecting DNA swab samples from residents who volunteer them in the Bremerton-area mobile home park where Jenise lived. He says the samples will be used to eliminate suspects.

Jenise disappeared over the weekend, and the body was found dead Thursday in woods near the trailer park.

Autopsy results could be available later Friday.
