Kihei welcomed a new business to the neighborhood as Coconut’s Fish Café recently opened its doors to the public on Saturday, April 25, within the Azeka Mauka Center. They serve grilled, island fish burgers with five fish options to choose from, fish tacos, salads, signature tropical coleslaw and more! Healthy living is their forté at Coconut’s, so don’t be surprised that just about everything is made from scratch with the freshest ingredients. Check out their killer Caesar dressing, which is 99 percent fat-free and tastes even better than real thing. Owner Mike Phillips brings over two decades of restaurant experience to the table—he owned his own chain of restaurants on the Mainland before moving to Maui 12 years ago. He said he has named his latest venture after his favorite “child”—his cat, Coconuts. He plans on opening another location in Lahaina and eventually taking these affordable restaurants to the other islands. Coconut’s Fish Café is located at 1279 S. Kihei Road., next to Peggy Sue’s, and is open seven days a week, from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. Call 875-9979 for take out and more information.
