Radio station’s format changed

May 21, 2009
Maui Weekly

If you have been looking for “Where Maui Rocks,” you will have to look elsewhere now, as Pacific Radio Group has launched a new station format to replace its modern rock station, X-92.5 FM. The group has expanded its original island radio format to Maui with the launch of Native 92.5 FM, “Maui’s Island Music Station.” The switch went into effect on Friday, May 1. Rhythmic favorites such as Ekolu, Fiji, Bob Marley, Natural Vibes and Kohomua are just a few of the many talented musicians featured on the Island CHR (Contemporary Hit Radio) play list of Hawaiian island music to world reggae. A petition is available online for those who would like make a statement about the change. Sign the “Return Modern Rock to Maui Radio” petition at
