Maui tour firm found guilty

Pacific Business News - A Maui tour operator was recently found guilty of tax violations. Judge Edwin Nacino from the Honolulu District Court found Maui Duck Tours guilty on six counts of “willful failure to file annual general excise tax returns.” The period of disregard was from the years 2002 through 2007, and the company was ordered to pay back a restitution of the $96,962 in back taxes due to the state. The tour company was also fined $6,000 and sentenced to one year of probation for each count. According the Hawai‘i Department of Taxation, the man responsible for Maui Duck Tours was also found guilty of the same six counts and received the same penalties.
