In honor of Maui OnStage’s upcoming production of the racy Broadway classic, The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas, the historic ‘Iao Theater is holding a blender event that could be even hotter than the Maui summer sun, although the air-conditioned theater shoud keep you cool. Join the too-hot-to-handle Miss Mona’s girls from the upcoming musical as they host a night of dancing and music at Texas Ho Down at the ‘Iao on Friday, June 26, from 6 to 10 p.m.
Performances by the folk souls of the Ha‘iku Hillbillys and the exuberant Kit Kat Club—country style—will keep the night rocking away as guests enjoy barbeque pupu from former Texan and renowned Maui chef Bev Gannon and tasty beverages from Maui Brewing Company, Ocean Vodka and Haleakalä Distillers. A silent auction will be held as well, featuring tickets to the Makawao Rodeo, the upcoming musical, local grinds certificates, artwork and more. So, saddle up, and grab a pretty lady or cute cowboy, and head over to the Texas Ho Down Blender Night at the ‘Iao Theater, located at 68 North Market Street in Wailuku.
The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas runs at the ‘Iao from July 10 through August 2, and catch Maui Weekly’s very own Paul Janes-Brown in the production. For more information or to purchase tickets to either shows, call 242-6969 or visit www.mauionstage.com.
