July 2, 2009
Maui Weekly

Hana Highway (Hwy) Surf—“Maui’s no ka ‘oi Surf Shop”—recently celebrated a decade of success catering to the island’s surf contingent with a variety of quality merchandise, rentals and extended aloha spirit. This vibrant business has been locally owned and operated since 1999 and is a one-stop shop for those looking to hit the swell or just look good cruising the Valley Isle in style. Hana Hwy Surf offers surfboard rentals/sales, and is the exclusive distributor of Hana Papa Surfboards, featuring Lau Lau Shapes—the handcrafted surfboards by Jud Lau. The shop carries a variety of cool accessories, swimsuits and apparel of popular name brands such as Volcom, Hurley, Reef, Da Kine and more.

On Saturday, June 20, they celebrated their 10th anniversary with a one-of-a-kind celebration at Charley’s in Pa‘ia (who recently celebrated 40 years on Maui’s North Shore). Families and friends came together to enjoy stellar live entertainment from Teomon and the Kryptones, dancing, awesome surf footage and Wangdu Hovey’s surf film, Maui Sessions.

Hana Hwy Surf is located at 149 Hana Highway in Pa‘ia, just down the road from Maui’s most consistent surf break at Ho‘okipa. For more information, call 579-8999 or visit
