The Feb. 27 tsunami threat served to renew Maui’s awareness of the need for emergency planning.

Many families are prepared for our annual hurricane season, and other disasters that may occur any time of year, such as earthquakes, tsunamis, fires and flood. These residents regularly update emergency supplies and know in advance the location of the nearest shelter.

Public Input Sought for Disaster Preparedness Survey

The County of Maui Civil Defense Agency requests that the public complete the online Maui Resident Disaster Preparedness Survey in March. The brief survey can be found on the county’s homepage (www.mauicounty.gov), as well as in the Civil Defense section (located under the “Departments” header.
