2:25 p.m., Kihei

Homeowner “having trouble” with a resident who claims that the landlord himself sideswiped their vehicle. Police go.

2:35 p.m., Ma‘alaea

Unknown sedan tailgating dangerously on Honoapi‘ilani Highway behind speeding ambulance with patients inside. Police alerted.

3:15 p.m., Pukalani

Right this minute, “Her 16-year-old son is in physical fight with a Caucasian male,” says 911, in a dispute over that teenager’s alleged criminal property damage (CPD) to the adult’s vehicle.

3:45 p.m., Kahana

“Elderly female appears slumped over her steering wheel inside a black SUV type-vehicle blocking traffic,” say 911 callers. MFD Engine 11, medics, ordered to go Ho‘ohui at Honoapi‘ilani Highway, but when they get there, the old lady and her car have vanished.

7:45 p.m., Makawao

Parked hybrid SUV vehicle window smashed outside large music and dance party in 3400 block of Baldwin, just south of war veterans’ cemetery. Woman’s purse with cash, many credit cards, social security, state ID, stolen. Police.

9:15 p.m., Pa‘ia

Caucasian male, mohawk haircut, refusing to leave her garden, says the caller. Police go.

Sunday, March 2

8:27 a.m., Ha‘iku

Mother goat along with one goat kid lingering in the middle of much-trafficked Kaupakalua Road at Kauhikoa. Squad car dispatched.

12:05 p.m., Poli Poli

Bull blocking the afternoon highway. Police asked to go.

12:21 p.m., Keawakapu

Guy fishing from rocky beach area caught a turtle, reeled it in, and cut it loose. But with the hook still in, says 911 caller. Police go.

7:20 p.m., Central Valley

“No lights on, car speeding cross-island on Kuihelani Highway,” per 911. “Driving recklessly.” Area patrol cars alerted.

7:29 p.m., Lahaina

Mother relieved to hear police dispatchers have helped find her missing, blond, 7-year-old daughter. Reported and listed as a juvenile runaway, “the child broke out a back window of their home and disappeared over two hours ago.” Now the problem becomes that the cops have no booster seat on hand for the return ride home, to be lawful.

8 p.m., Ha‘iku

Kids and a female screaming “Don’t hit me!” says 911 caller. Police go emergency.

8:02 p.m., Kula

A lone deer saunters along Highway 37 near Enchanted Gardens, Keokea direction, says 911 caller. Squad car.

9:33 p.m., Ha‘iku

Report to 911: “Male armed with a gun threatening people in the front house.” Police go emergency. The guy takes off in black Cherokee, one dog with him in the car.

9:52 p.m., Napili

Caucasian male, white T-shirt, red backpack, “threatening to kill everyone in the area” at Napili Marketplace. Police go.

Monday, March 3

10 a.m., Lahaina

Art gallery complains employee apparently threw away company property worth at least $300,000. That person not in the area at this time, says accuser, but wants to document.

10:14 a.m., Kahului

Caller complains dump trucks and garbage trucks go speeding by Lihikai School. Dangerous. Police respond.

10:28 a.m., Honokowai

MFD Engine 3 ordered to Lahaina Wastewater Treatment Plant as first responder. “Worker smashed between pump and a wall. Breathing and still conscious.”

9:15 p.m., Makawao

Male party in his thirties raving to concerned family about killing himself. Left the house and jumped a fence, cattle rope in hand. Police get involved.

9:21 p.m., Kihei

Gunshots heard, says caller. “Maybe gang activity.” Police go Waipu‘ilani at Liloa.

Tuesday, March 4

9:43 a.m., Island-wide

Search underway, says 911, for five suspects “considered armed and dangerous.” Allegedly, a .25 automatic handgun among weapons known held by them. Four are male and female teenagers, one an adult male.

12:12 p.m., Wailea

“Copy! Possible drowning victim in upper pool at Ekahi,” says MFD Engine 14, in reply to 911. “Upper pool deck Building 4-1.” They go.

4 p.m., Ka‘anapali

Kiteboarder and rig down, drifting out to sea and away about 400 yards off Westin, says 911 caller. Ladder 3 assigned the case.

4:24 p.m., Mudflats

One pickup truck rams back of another. Person riding in bed of the truck in front complains of severe back pain, says 911 caller. Police, medics, go.

Wednesday, March 5

9:24 a.m., Kahului Airport

Unmarked police vehicle left in the public parking lot broken into by unknown vandals. Detectives go.

Thursday, March 6

11:57 a.m., Pu‘unene

Road rage. Pickup truck chases silver sedan at high speed right past big monkeypod trees, across narrow bridgeway and the rustic old post office. Area police units alerted.
