9:20 a.m., Pa‘ia
“Male surfer with broken leg,” says 911, “waiting by house with blue tile roof at Tavares Bay.” Medics, police, Engine 2, assigned.

Sunday, April 13

5:15 p.m., Baldwin Beach
After an hour of searching, even in and out of rainstorms, using multiple county resources including a helicopter, a missing kitesurfer is finally located. “He’s just fine” says one fireman to 911.  “No medical attention needed.”

5:45 p.m., Kahana
“Three-car motor vehicle accident near Kahana Manor on the lower road,” says 911. MFD Engine 11 crew first responder.

8:28 p.m., Unknown
Female complains of male “throwing rocks at her window.” Police.

Monday, April 14

7:15 a.m., Kihei
Woman said to have locked herself inside a room says a 13-year-old male in the same home is threatening to kill himself. “There’s a history,” says 911. “Previously he threatened to kill her.” Police go.

8:44 a.m., On Air
Ceremonial bells and verbal salutations from many Maui fire stations, over the radio air, bidding farewell to the popular and retiring Maui Fire Control Chief Neal Bal.

9:19 a.m., Unknown
Heated verbal between ex-boyfriend and girlfriend. He claims she dumped paint thinner inside his garage. More serious because a court injunction ordering distance between them is in place.

10:30 a.m., Wailuku
Callers say jewelry stolen in Makawao, which they recognize, is visibly on sale in one of the showcases at a pawn shop.

Tuesday, April 15

10:39 a.m., Kihei
Local male in his 20s, white shirt, dark pants, reported as disorderly. Broke glass and fixtures inside a Starbucks, callers tell 911. “Word is he’s still in the back parking lot at Kukui Mall.” Police go, and do find him.

11:30 a.m., Kahului
Industrial accident reported at Superferry dock on Maui. Male there said bleeding. Medics assigned go there.

3:15 p.m, Wailuku
Admits intravenous cocaine use for the past four days. Now, experiencing miseries of withdrawal, says someone calling 911 on her behalf. “Badly needs help.” They agree to meet cops on the street, but then suddenly change the meeting place to a hamburger joint.

3:20 p.m., Fleming Beach North Maui
They “had words” while in the ocean. Then, the caller says, the other guy threatened him in a very ugly way. Wants police. They go there.

3:34 p.m., Kahului
Female detained by store security, accused of theft. Police told to see the manager at Ka‘ahumanu Center.

6:05 p.m., Lahaina
Big squabble at West-side baby beach. Caucasian male, black shirt, black pants, said to have been brazenly exposing his privates while lots of other people, including children, were looking. “A crowd of irate witnesses will await you.” 911 tells the responding police officer.

Wednesday, April 16

7:15 a.m., Kahului
Caller tells 911 saw a gun lying on the passenger seat of parked blue Ford Ranger. Squad car assigned. “Maybe its an off-duty security guard,” offers one cop.

7:53 a.m., Pukalani
Cars bang by Starbucks. Police go to document.

8:04 a.m., Paukukalo
Report of structure on fire. MFD Engine 1 is assigned. “Under control, they report, just seven minutes later.

8:22 a.m., Pukalani
Yet another car accident, same morning, fronting Starbucks Upcountry. Police go.

7:13 p.m, Baldwin Beach
Another kitesurf rescue operation. This one at nighttime. The kiter is soon found, but his expensive gear is still being washed out to sea. MFD Rescue 10 weighs the risks of  any further action.

Thursday, April 17

Noon, Wailuku
“Security officers from Sack N Save chasing a Caucasian male in his 30s across the  bridge, towards Waihe‘e,” says 911. The suspect crosses down toward where ocean meets the rivermouth, and disappears.

1:30 p.m., Pa‘ia
Physical fight between one young male and one young female at the youth center, says 911 radio. The female “victim” will await police, along with an eyewitness to the clash.

1:35 p.m., Big Beach, third entrance
“Female, 19 years old with leg injuries,” says 911 radio. Police, fire and medic units go.

4:49 p.m., Kahului
Someone at a photography related business at Ka‘ahumanu Center calling 911, alarmed that a developed roll of film contains various pictures of marijuana. Police go there.

5:30 p.m., Baldwin Beach
Her dog, a Doberman, is on a leash, the caller says. But two other female passed on the beach with an unleashed Mastiff , and their dog leaped on and savaged her pet. Meanwhile, the complainant claims, the other women just kept walking away, apparently unconcerned. Caller wants police. Unit assigned.

6:54 p.m., Kihei
Man-and-wife argument. Allegedly the wife “tore up the place” before she tore out of the house. Police go.
