9:53 a.m., Kihei

Male and female heated verbal. “You can hear them yelling from the parking lot,” neighbors tell 911. Police go.

Monday, June 9

7:38 a.m., Kula

Couple going through divorce haggling now over some joint property items. Squad car dispatched.

8:08 a.m., Pa‘ia

“Criminal tampering at Pa‘ia Post Office. See the postmaster, Chuck.” Squad car.

8:18 a.m., Unknown

Keiki, male Caucasian, 3 years old, found wandering, completely unsupervised. Police.

9:09 a.m., Kahului

“Female, says she’s afraid to go out to her car because her boyfriend, who may be on drugs, is waiting in the parking lot to clobber her.” Tells 911 she’s “hiding in the ladies room, near the key cutting department of Sears” at Ka‘ahumanu Shopping Center. “The problem with that,” says one responding police officer, “is that Sears doesn’t even open ’til half-an-hour from now.” Develops that the frightened female slipped inside the store via its receiving dock.

10:50 a.m., Maliko Gulch Beach

“Male walking around holding a small handgun, talking to himself, but not threatening anybody,” says 911. Police dispatched, emergency.

10:57 a.m., Keawakapu

Male washes up on shore screaming for help. Appears hurt, say callers. MFC Engine 14, Jet Ski 6 respond.

11:18 a.m., Unknown

“Inside the restaurant, a baby wouldn’t stop crying” say 911 callers. “So the parents took it outside, locked it in their car and returned to finish eating.” Police go there.

4:55 p.m., Kipahulu

“Brush fire, near John Wainright’s house, moving fast toward the river,” says 911. MFC Engines 7 and Mini 7 activated to Wailua Valley. Turns into a fight of many hours. “No water for firehoses there,” says commander.

7:25 p.m., Lahaina Aquatic Center

Huge flames of new brush fire erupting nearby. “No road in to where the fire is,” says on-scene commander. Tanker 14 and other units go emergency to Shaw, Prison Street and the Honoapi‘ilani Highway.

7:48 p.m., Unknown

Guy who’s in the process of moving out says female roommates keep going inside his room, repeatedly, unasked. Wants an officer to speak with them regarding privacy.

Tuesday, June 10

10:14 a.m., Unknown

“Car spun out of control then flipped into my yard,” says caller. Lone male occupant walked away to a nearby park. Car still there, huli. Police go.

7:38 p.m., Kalama Park

Intoxicated male keeps staggering on to the public basketball courts, disrupting ongoing games. Callers ask for police.

7:40 p.m., Lahaina Center

At convenience store, a male, 15 years of age, reportedly cut himself on glass broken accidentally. Engine 3, first responder.

8:23 p.m., Ka‘anapali

Rumble between two angry males inside the laundromat of major old hotel. No word if booze involved. Police asked to hurry.

8:44 p.m., Kihei

“Male teenager riding motorbike, no headlights,” says 911. Police look for him at residence.

Wednesday, June 11

8:10 a.m., Wailuku

Large rock thrown through the plate glass display window of a graduation and weddings formal wear store. “Occurred overnight,” says 911 caller. Police go.

8:25 p.m., Lahaina

Unresponsive male sprawled on grounds of church, says 911. “Look for the woman in a yellow dress,” responding police are told. “She will point out where.”

12:25 p.m., Lahaina

Male, 5 years old, gone missing near the “old poi factory. He was with is uncle,” says 911, “then disappeared.” MFC Engine 3 crew joins the urgent search. A police officer soon comes up on radio reporting, “The child has been found safe and sound.”

12:31, Upper Pukalani

Caller complains the overwhelming choking odor of propane or insecticides. Police go, first.

12:45 p.m., Unknown

“White Dodge Ram pickup trucks, two of them, reported stolen from a job site,” says 911. Police go.
