10:49 a.m., Pa‘ia

“They got the stolen item back,” say the convenience store clerks. But the woman who tried to steal it just left driving an older model Mercedes.” They want police to come their shop to document the incident.

10:56 a.m., Unknown

Caller spotted a car turning at Baldwin Avenue and headed Hana direction with a young child standing, unsecured, in the front seat. Police advised to keep an eye out for that blue Toyota.

Noon, Kihei

“I even nailed my door shut, but now he’s using a drill to open it and get in. Plus, now he’s here with another guy!” says a hysterical sounding female caller. “Apparently its an ongoing case,” radios 911. “Yes,” says the responding police officer. “I’ve gone there before.”

12:24 p.m., Ka‘ahumanu Center

“Two juveniles detained for promotion of detrimental drugs,” police report to 911 from behind a department store.

1:23 p.m., Waiakoa

Latest chapter in ongoing landlord-tenant dispute unfolding. Police go.

3:15 p.m., Kahului

“The female took two purses,” those there say. “One red and white floral; the other black and white with vertical stripes, and she also took a gray backpack. The black car she reportedly left in is registered to an N. Market Street address,” says 911.

4:15 p.m., Pi‘iholo

Female says she was startled by sound of three gunshots much too near to her home. Squad car dispatched.

5:15 p.m., Olinda

Couple complains to 911 that a woman, absolutely not wanted there, is back on their private property. The alleged intruder, they say, is dressed up in a purple gown. Squad car assigned. Meanwhile, a police commander reminds responding officers that several people said to be living near the same address are wanted on outstanding warrants. “May as well check up on them, too,” he advises.

6:50 p.m., Kihei

“Respond emergency. Abuse in progress,” says 911. Police go.

6:51 p.m., Kihei

Call for an ocean rescue, a quarter-mile offshore Kalama Park. Fire units respond.

7:30 a.m., Olowalu

“Freezer-type truck driving erratically, tailgating others,” says 911. Squad car assigned.

1:21 p.m., Pukalani

“Someone just hurled a rock through my window glass,” says the 911 caller. “Believe he’s dangerous and hiding in the bushes.” Cops go.

1:41 p.m., Kahului

Assault inside the hospital emergency room. Cops go, emergency.

Wednesday, June 25

3:48 p.m., Near Kahului Airport

Local male driving a black pickup truck yelling at nearby tourists in a bright yellow sports car. “Seems like road rage-type incident,” says 911. Squad car assigned.

4:58 p.m., Kihei

Large red pickup truck driven by large local male crashes with another, undescribed, vehicle. Emergency response to Mana Kai area.

5 p.m., Kihei

Female ate “Japanese sleeping pills,” says 911 caller. Near death. Medics, police, go.

5:20 p.m., Near Kaheawa Wind Power

Raging brush fire, fanned by stiff tradewinds, blowing makai and spreading. “Heavy smoke,” radios an near scene police officer. Air One helicopter, MFC Engine 1 and Tanker 10, head out to the fight.

Thursday, June 26

7 a.m., Huelo-Kailua

Unresponsive male, about 25, in a car by the roadside. Passersby, including a nurse, try to help him. “Waiting for fire and medics with headlights on and flashers going,” they say. “He woke up, still out of it, but combative,” say callers.

7:40 a.m., Kahului

Neighbor thinks a crude meth lab is cooking illegal drugs next door. “Strong smell of chemicals,” they say. MFC Rescue 10, police, Hazmat, assemble. Cops check the house pointed out, soon say “no evidence of any narcotics lab in there.”

12:10 p.m., Waikapu

Two teenagers, one 14, the other 13, in an intense physical fight with each other. Police head there.

12:11 p.m., Unknown

When asked what he was doing in the neighbors yard, the stranger said he was looking for a friend. Suddenly, the newcomer jumped a fence and, suspiciously, went running away down the highway sidewalk. Squad car assigned patrol the area.

5:49 p.m., Napili

Manager complains that the mother, whom he says may be on drugs, left several kids and their friends, all under age 9, to fend for themselves all day. “Now,” he says, “those unattended youngsters are frustrating other guests with their loud annoyances by the condo swimming pool area.” Wants police to come there.

Friday, June 27

1:21 p.m., Wailuku

“Male and female battling outside the martial arts dojo,” is the urgent report to 911.

Cops go, but find nothing like that going on.
