Tuesday, August 5

9:59 a.m., Wailuku

Caller says males who arrived in a pickup truck are shooting paintballs at his building, near Lower Main Street. Police go talk with the two alleged paintball shooting young men.

2:04 p.m., Near Pua‘a Ka‘a

Motorcycle and car in collision. No injuries, and not blocking the Hana Highway, say callers. 911 dispatches emergency help.

4:00 p.m., Pulehu

Mid-afternoon brush fire. Engines 13, 5, 10. Tanker 10 and Air One helicopter among the units converged in the fight. Lasts into the evening before declared “under control.”

4:50 p.m., Kahului

Male dressed in all white clothes, riding on a red bicycle, said trying sell drugs to a boy near a school. Squad car goes, near Hale Mahaolu.

4:55 p.m., Olinda

“Male unsuccessfully tried to hang himself,” says 911. Police, medics go Hawea Place.

5:05 p.m., Hana Highway

Guy jumped of a waterfall near miles 5 through 7, landed wrong, they say. Hurt. Would have to jump to yet another waterfall to get down. Air One helicopter called in for airlift rescue ops.

5:10 p.m., Unknown

“It’s a family of stingrays, no sharks,” says one officer reporting over 911 radio. “About five of them” 911 acknowledges the info.

5:50 p.m., Moloka‘i

Boy, 8 years old, said savaged by a pit bull. “Bites on his back and both arms,” radios  Moloka‘i’s 911 dispatcher.

Wednesday, August 6

11:10 a.m., Kahului

“Wallet found inside Safeway,” 911 tells beat officer “See Customer Service there.”

11:15 a.m., Unknown

“Man, shorts partially down, said playing with himself openly near the tide pools. Many children in the area,” says 911. A cop goes there hurriedly, but soon reports, “I’ve found nothing like what you described going on here”

3:20 p.m., Lahaina Aquatic Center

“Scuffle by the swimming pools left one female lifeguard with a bleeding lip,” says 911. Medics, police, go.

5:23 p.m., Nahiku

Alarmed local residents report a van speeding through area with a woman inside it “screaming to be let out.” Headed westbound. Police, alerted, are given descriptions.

5:30 p.m., Lahaina

Male said injured at baseball field. Awaits medics inside a dugout. Ladder 3, Medic 3, assigned.

Thursday, August 7

6:50 a.m., Unknown

Five domesticated goats gamboling outside fence by the roadside. “Possible traffic hazard,” says 911. Squad car.

6:53 a.m., Kahului

Harassment at hotel, says caller. Squad car.

7:55 a.m., Kula

“Truck down embankment off Copp Road,” says 911. Police, medics, fire.

8:09 a.m., Moloka‘i

Unexploded ordnance found near that place named “Stone Wall.” “Two military teams responding,” police officer tells Moloka‘i 911. But “a first attempt to explode them failed” is the report.

1:28 p.m., Napili

“Power lines down from Napili Golf Course area up to Kapalua,” says a police officer over radio. Wind. 911 alerts Maui Electric.

8:25 p.m., Happy Valley

“Repeat obscene phone calls coming nonstop on her 10-year-old daughter’s private cell phone. Unknown responsible,” says 911. Police car to Mokuhau Road.

Friday, August 8

8:30 a.m., Ha‘iku

“Cars trunk being filled with pineapples, “ anonymous caller tells 911. Suspects that “homeless-looking Caucasian male” driver may have swiped them from nearby fields. Squad car assigned.

9:07 a.m., Unknown

Caller says red van keeps circling past her house in what feels like a threatening way. “The female driver inside the van thinks that the 911 caller is having an affair with her boyfriend. It so happens that the boyfriend is, indeed, with the caller,” says 911.

12:14 p.m., Waiehu Heights

“Olena Street female says someone is trying to break into her house,” says 911. Terrified. “Gruff male voice heard in the background.” Police go.

1:18 p.m., Ka‘anapali

Large beach umbrella, uprooted by wind gusts, reportedly whacked a visitor in the head. Medics go to Hyatt beachfront.

Saturday, August 9

7:06 a.m., District 4

Police car reportedly rear-ended a civilian vehicle. Requesting help. “Got red paint all over my front now,” says. 911 helps handle.

7:41 a.m., Hawaiian Homes

“A pack of dogs is trying to make it across the busy road and might need traffic control,” says 911.

9:13 a.m., Happy Valley

Woman wants to get her clothes out of her estranged husband’s place. Asking for police protection. “Are there any TROs or other legal documents involved in this?” asks one cautious assigned police officer.

10 a.m., Kanaha

Business owner reports two outside males “calling out” his own employee to “step outside and fight like a man.” One of the challengers said to be from Marshall Islands. Police go.
