1:40 p.m., Lahaina
Female, blond, black backpack, white hat, allegedly filched three bottles of wine from a near-harbor liquor store. Disappeared back of the Old Baldwin House, say the 911 callers. Squad car.

1:46 p.m., Unknown
“Tenant not seen for several days now,” landlord tells 911. “Rent overdue.” Squad car dispatched.

Tuesday, September 16

ongoing, Ha‘iku
The fire that started yesterday evening near the renowned surf spot nicknamed “Jaws” has been extinguished, Maui County Fire officials reported. No structures were damaged, and there were no injuries or monetary losses reported. Approximately 30 acres on the makai side of Hana Highway burned in the fire; the cause remains under investigation. Rain showers moving through the area helped dampen the ground, officials said. Fire crews were assisted yesterday by two helicopters, five engine companies and a water tanker...

11 a.m., Ho‘okipa
Credible witnesses report sighting a 10-foot tiger shark swimming nearby. Fire department helps try clear all people out of beach waters there. Sets up command post. But, some stubborn surfers and kite riders are refusing to come out. They are threatened, through bullhorns, with arrest, when caught later.

12:30 p.m., Kula
“A tractor toppled over, and the is driver pinned underneath it,” broadcasts 911. MFC 13 responds to Kamehamehaiki Road in the 700 block, and extricates that victim quickly. Police, paramedics, on scene fast, too. No word released at scene on victims ID, nor aftermath health condition.

1 p.m., Kahului
“Brush fire between Harbor Lights and that new ceramic tile business on the corner,” says 911. Plenty smoke. Snuffed out quickly by Maui Fire Department responders.

2:10 p.m., Haleakala Highway
Road rage. Female driver tells 911 four males sitting in bed of a white pickup truck tossed lit cigarettes at her window. 911 tells her to turn her flashers on so alerted cop cars can pick her out in the traffic. Two different police vehicles lay in wait, near bottom of the highway hill, for her and the alleged offenders to drive by them. Near Hansen Road at Hana Highway, two of the truck guys are written police summonses for criminal littering.

5:10 p.m., Waiehu
Male-voice caller says “a former boyfriend” slammed the door on the callers body while he was still positioned in the opened doorway. Wants to document as abuse, but is “refusing medics,” says 911.

Thursday, September 18

8:10 a.m., Pukalani
Mother says 8-year-old son is, again, refusing to go school. “This,” she reports to 911, “is an ongoing problem with him lately.” Asks for police officers to come talk with him.

8:40 a.m., Ulumalu
Personal bag reported stolen out of vehicle, earlier, at Tavares Bay.

Saturday, September 20

5:55 p.m., Kahului
“Youngster, male, about 15 years of age, “upchucking” in the mall parking lot.” Callers  tell 911 that say he and three female companions were just refused when trying to buy booze at a mall discount liquor store. They reportedly drove in one car out of Maui Marketplace onto Dairy Road, unknown direction.

Sunday, September 21

11:53 a.m., Kahului
Collision inside a Dairy Road parking lot. “Male driver in bang with white Jetta. Says he has no drivers license nor insurance,” caller tells 911. Police go.

Monday, September 22

11:05 a.m., Kanaio
“House break-in going on up a four wheel drive dirt road,” an anonymous tipster tells 911. “Responsibles recognized as previous residents of the area.” Upcountry patrol cars assigned.

3:30 p.m., Kahului
“Customers complain of difficulty breathing. Employees report a nauseating odor,” says 911, at a 270 Dairy Road bookstore. Arriving medics report that no one there seems to require serious attention. A police officer soon reports that the source seems to have been a fried light bulb.

3:50 p.m., Kihei
Caller complains regarding two dead pigs on the street next to a parked yellow and blue colored boat. 911 asks an area police unit to check for such a scene.

4:03 p.m., Kihei
“Responsible slapped her while she was feeding her week-old baby,” says the 911 complainant. “He just left here.” She does not want medics.

Tuesday, September 23

8:03 a.m., Wailuku
Pit bull, multiple puncture wounds on body. Someone shot it with something like a pellet gun. That canine seen roaming around area in a pack with other dogs. Animal control notified by 911.
