Five athletes from Maui Taekwondo in Kihei brought home 11 medals from the 2007 U.S. National Championships and U.S. Junior Olympic Taekwondo Championships held earlier this month at the San Jose Convention Center in San Jose, Calif.
Alek Fredericksen won three gold medals overall, beginning with the forms division and elite sparring division, and then went on to win gold in the world-class sparring division the next day. Max Chamoun won two gold medals in the forms and elite sparring divisions.
