Kihei Community Association to explore environmental and access issues. Are you interested in a hiking or jogging trail on state reserve lands in Kihei? Do you own beachfront property in Kihei? Is there state land between your property line and the ocean, or are you are an owner or renter of a condo that backs onto state beach reserve land? Are you are interested in protecting the dunes, turtle and bird nesting areas along our beach reserve lands? If so, you are invited to this month’s meeting of the Kihei Community Association on Tuesday, Aug. 19, at the Kihei Community Center.
KCA board members will show a Powerpoint presentation focused on the South Maui Coastal Heritage Trail and the efforts of state land agents from the Department of Land and Natural Resources to return lateral access to these lands and protect fragile dunes and wildlife. State Land Agents Daniel Ornellas and Larry Pacheco will be present at this meeting.
If you have questions about or answers to offer on these topics, you are welcome to speak during the formal breakout sessions at the conclusion of this presentation.
Doors open at 6 p.m.; share pupu and talk story with neighbors before meeting kicks off promptly at 6:30.
Attendees are asked to bring canned food for the Maui Food Bank. Free cloth grocery bags are available to all who attend, provided by the Maui County Recycling Section.
