World AIDS Day 2008

Island residents are invited to attend the 20th Annual World AIDS Day Candlelight and Rose Ceremony on Monday, Dec. 1, at Kalama Park in Kihei. Since 1988, efforts made in response to the HIV/AIDS epidemic have produced positive results; however, the latest UNAIDS report on the global AIDS epidemic indicates that the epidemic is not yet over in any part of the world. The free ceremony will include special musical performances and a candlelight and rose ceremony. The service will begin at 5:30 p.m. and end with light refreshments served afterwards. For more information, contact Steve at the Maui AIDS Foundation at 242-4900 or visit the MAF Website at www.mauiAIDS.org.
