Volunteers needed for 32nd annual special needs event.Imua Family Services is currently recruiting volunteers to serve as camper caregivers, kitchen crew, lifeguards, medical staff, entertainers and recreational guides. Camp Imua, a beloved Maui tradition offering the experience of a lifetime for campers and volunteers alike will be held June 7–13.
This free, weeklong, overnight recreational camp, held annually, brings 50 of Maui’s school-age children with special needs together with over 120 community volunteers. Parents and caregivers receive a week of much-needed respite while their children enjoy a program that promotes friendship, confidence, independence, life skills and a full week of fun.
You can also be a part of this cherished Maui tradition through donations of food, services and financial contributions, which are needed to make Camp Imua a reality. Camp Imua is built completely upon private support.
“We are gearing up for another sensational Camp Imua,” said Imua Family Services Executive Director Karen Jayne. “We depend on outstanding volunteers and exceptional community involvement to make Camp Imua the highlight of the year for dozens of Maui families.”
Camp Imua is sponsored by Imua Family Services, a private nonprofit agency founded in 1947 that provides early intervention services for children and their families on Maui and Lana‘i. Other programs offered by Imua Family Services include Newborn Hearing Screening, Infant and Child Development, Early Childhood Development and You Make the Difference.
