Annual Pentecostal celebration to be held in Kula.The 2008 Holy Ghost Feast fundraiser will be held on Saturday, May 10, from 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., and Sunday, May 11, from 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the historic Holy Ghost Mission in Kula. The Kula Roman Catholic Community (which includes Our Lady Queen of the Angels in Keokea, Holy Ghost Mission in Waiakoa and St. James the Less Mission in Ulupalakua) will celebrate Pentecost with a Vigil Mass of Pentecost, food and entertainment, auctions, games and a free feast.
The feast includes laulau, poi and sweet potatoes, beginning with the first of four seatings at 11:30 a.m. Seatings will continue at 45-minute intervals.
Auction items include two nights at the Westin Ka‘anapali Ocean Resort Villas, family passes to the Maui Ocean Center, Curtis Wilson Cost giclee, golf at Wailea, dinner and a show at the Old Lahaina Lu‘au, meals at Hakone and Polli’s, Pi‘iholo Ranch horseback rides, auto detailing, carpet cleaning and gift certificates from the Closet Shop.
Throughout the feast, keiki will enjoy games, Sandi Candy and a bouncing castle. Baked goods, jams and jellies, a farmers market, plants and, of course, the Holy Ghost Church’s Portuguese bread and laulau will be available for purchase.
Food booths will serve ono chili and rice, chow fun, cotton candy, hamburgers, ice cream, Portuguese soup, teriyaki beef and chicken, and smoothies, soda and water.
A variety of vendor booths will offer crafts and collectibles and cook-at-home food with a gourmet flair. And don’t forget to browse the Holy Ghost Church Gift Shop.
Christmas comes to Kula early this year. A Christmas booth in the parish hall will sell goods donated by Marmac Ace Hardware and the former Maureen’s Gift and Christmas store.
For your convenience, an ATM will be available at the Finance Booth.
