Since its inception, Hana Imi Na‘auao, under the auspices of Na Moku o Ko‘olau Hui, continues to support cultural education for its descendants and tenants of the Ke‘anae—Wailuanui Ahupua‘a. The individuals receiving scholarships this year are Tiana Ka‘auamo, attending University of Hawai‘i-Hilo; Na‘ilima Kana, attending Maui Community College; and Jodee Inouye, attending University of Hawai‘i-Manoa.
The scholarships help recipients further their education and interests in hopes that they perpetuate the Hawaiian culture. By “giving back” to the community, Hana Imi Na‘auao trusts that these individuals will empower the next generation and help to build a stronger Hawai‘i Nei.
Admission to the event is free. This alcohol- and drug-free event is sponsored by Na Moku Aupuni o Ko‘olau Hui and the County of Maui. For information call 269-3173.
