The Rotary Clubs of Maui held a free informational meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Cary and Eddy’s Hideaway Restaurant in Kahului about the formation of a new evening/dinner Rotary club on Maui. Of the eight existing Rotary clubs on Maui, four clubs meet at breakfast time: Kihei Sunrise, Lahaina Sunrise, Upcountry and Wailuku. The remaining four clubs meet at lunch: Kahului, Kihei-Wailea, Lahaina and the Rotary Club of Maui. The “sunset club” option offers a convenience to current and prospective Rotarians who cannot attend breakfast or lunch meetings.
Rotary District 5000-Maui Club Extension Chair Chuck Burke shared particulars about membership in this new club. Burke, who has been a member of Rotary since 1996, has chartered new clubs in Duvall, Wash., and Kholmsk, Russia.
Rotary clubs on Maui are a part of Rotary Internationals’ global network of more than 32,000 clubs in 207 countries. Rotary International consists of 1.2 million professional men and women who, as civic leaders, volunteer to improve the quality of life in their home and world communities.
