Maui Physicist Garrett Lisi Added to TEDxMaui Lineup

Organizers of TEDxMaui announced that theoretical physicist, waterman and Maui resident Garrett Lisi has been added to their lineup of presenters for their second annual event on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 9 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. in the Maui Arts & Cultural Center's (MACC) Castle Theater.

TED, which stands for "technology, entertainment and design," is a national nonprofit organization devoted to "Ideas Worth Spreading."

TEDxMaui 2013 is intended to educate, inspire and connect great minds by honoring innovators who have passion, curiosity, creativity and adaptability to change the world with revolutionary ideas.

The event, which brings together celebrated presenters from Hawai'i and beyond to share their ideas on stage in 18 minutes or less, is an independently organized event licensed by TED.

Lisi joins a diverse and award-winning array of presenters for TEDxMaui 2013: The Dream is Real, including visionary artist Alex Grey; legendary Hawaiian waterman Archie Kalepa; the master of Polynesian navigation, Kalepa Baybayan; Grammy-nominated slack key sensation Makana; renowned humanitarian and author Reverend Dr. Michael Beckwith; "designpreneuer" Graham Hill; National Geographic cinematographer Paul Atkins; and renewable energy pioneer Quayle Hodek.
